This is a beautiful fresh green spicy scent with a very long lasting woody amber base with expertly and subtly blended notes of tobacco, incense and leather. I have an original bottle from 2010 when it was first released. I just made the formula up this afternoon and even before maceration and maturation it smells pretty much identical. Perhaps the most interesting aspect to me is the proportions of top, heart and base notes. Assuming top note materials lasting <50 hours, heart note materials lasting 50-150 hours and base note materials lasting 150+ hours the breakdown would be 19.25% top, 5.5% heart and 75.25% base. This is a powerful and very long lasting scent.

This is not a sporty scent, nor is it uplifting, joyful, day-at-the-beach, or happy-go-lucky. It’s definitely not for clubbing or going on dates.
Memoir is a thoughtful, somber, pensive fragrance that has a very definite mood to it. It’s one that I wear to funerals. When worn appropriately, it’s nothing short of magnificent.
This is one of my favorite rainy day fragrances. Very glad to have this excellent formula.
