John Applebloom –
I am rediscovering Fougeres and this is a classic. I remember the original as much more in your face and potent but this interpretation brings down the slap-in-your face top notes and transforms them to an almost elegant level in something you can and should wear for an evening dinner. Simply Great!
Greenstreet –
I agree with John- the heavy galaxolide steps on the more aggressive top notes, softening them considerably. I happen to like it better this way, but if you’re looking for the “slap-in-the-face” notes, as John put it, I would start with about half the amount of galaxolide. More can always be added later.
I also added a bit of Cypriol.
As with so many of these classics that have been reformulated countless times, this formula is closer to the original concept than what is actually being sold as Drakkar Noir these days.
Very glad to have this formula.
