John Applebloom –
One of the many beauties of classical structures is that they are almost perfectly perfected leaving very little room for improvement other than upgrade to some of the materials and inclusion of modern ones. BdJ is an excellent example of a refined version of Zino D. which also had that raspy voice but without the refinement that comes with more modern structure. It is a deep lavender and patchouli base – not much more and nothing less than that. And as such it serves the purpose well. If I were to build my own fougere, I would add more transparency and more geranium for leafy greenness – but then again, that’s the beauty of these formulae – you see and you can modify and experiment.
