While I am not familiar with the original, I was really taken by the review of Luca Turin in his Perfume Guide and so was thrilled to take a look at the formula and the fragrance. It is a stretch to say that I was disappointed by the discrepancy of my imagination just as much as it is a stretch to say that I love it as much as he does. Bottom line – it is a very elegant masculine – intelligence indeed – nothing as vulgar as (I am sorry to say) Bleue de C. Or D.’s Sauvage. A green mildly spicy and mildly aromatic woody thing that smells like it wants to blend in theater than attract attention but do it in the ‘quiet luxury’ kind of way that a pure white silk t-shirt would do.
