The difficult thing in perfumery is to make things seem natural without overcomplicating. This is truly a special one not only because it is a phenomenal study by JCE of the osmanthus qualities but because it demonstrates how with the use of familiar ingredients (hedione) and some more special naturals (guaiac wood), you get a milky, fruity, radiant flower – neither too sweet, nor too sour, neither too flowery, nor abstract. It is as if nature intended it but it had the additional intellectual touch that only a human can bring without the error-experimentation that nature infuses. This formula is an excellent example of how JCE works to create the impression of tea by balancing hedione and beta-ionone but taking it into an entirely different direction here from his first tea – into the fruits rather than the greens. A masterpiece! The formula is also VERY close to the original making this a treasure to have and a must for anyone who wants to study JCE’s style and phislophical approach to perfume making.
