John Applebloom –
I am a big Hermes fan overall so I might be biased even when Caleche is not actually one of the latest creations going back decades. But despite that, to my nose it still feels incredibly modern and sophisticated (in the same way that Faubourge 24 is) – it is not a perfume to wear with jeans – it asks for a certain level of elegance.
The formula is indeed an exercise in patience but some of the bases that are required are generally very helpful to have at hand so mixing them up is good – the jasmine absolute base is quite good on its own.
This is once again an incredibly valuable study of a classic – understanding the structure, what makes it powerful, and what makes it elegant.
Fantastic formula and I love it!
