John Applebloom (verified owner) –
There are vanilla perfumes and then there are special amber perfumes. This is neither. It is an oriental but done so delicately that it has none of the culinary aspect of Amber Sultan, nor the overdose of sugar in Un Bois Vanille. It is a sweet liquor like a good brandy that has added sugar around the rim of the glass.
I am comparing it also to an actual sample of the cologne version and this formula is incredibly close in smell (I had to make a few minor changes as I didn’t have some of the material) and it has phenomenal performance. Truly excellent formula.
I personally made a few small additions – oak wood, cognac absolute, and davana – all in incredibly small portions but sufficient that they have the needed effect of added booziness, fruitiness, and depth.
