The modern commercial formulation of Jacomo de Jacomo being sold today smells of eugenol, lavender, patchouli, and a little musk, not much else. It’s still a good fragrance, but it’s a thin, watery shadow of the original formulation.
Boasting almost 30% naturals, this excellent formula brings it back to what I remember in the early 1980s. The clove and patchouli notes that made it so attractive amongst the goth and punk scenes of the day are still readily apparent, but they’re enrobed in layers of rich complexity and sophistication.
Many will say that this is the quintessential fall and winter fragrance, and while it’s a great cool weather choice that works equally well with a black leather jacket, a rugged Aran sweater, or a manly navy pea coat, I think that depending on what you wear it with, the Jamaican spices can evoke a certain tropical vibe that lends itself to warmer weather, too.
Very good formula.
